World Sauna Day 24.4.2027 – Make the day count

Eight months to go. It might sound like plenty of time – and it is. But it’s also the perfect time to start.
World Sauna Day returns on 24 April 2027, bringing sauna lovers, sauna businesses and communities together around the world for one shared purpose: to celebrate sauna culture, introduce more people to it and spread the word about everything sauna has to offer.
Participating can be as simple as opening your sauna doors for the day. But if you’ve ever thought about creating something a little bigger, World Sauna Day is the perfect reason to do it.
An event doesn’t have to be huge. You don’t need a massive budget, dozens of saunas or an elaborate programme. A great World Sauna Day event can be ten people experiencing your sauna for the first time.
What matters is creating a reason for people to come.
And with eight months ahead of us, you have time to make 24 April 2027 count.
8 months to go: Sign up & start dreaming
First things first: register for World Sauna Day 2027.
Registration is completely free. There are no participation fees, commissions or hidden costs.
Once registered, your sauna or event will be listed on the World Sauna Day website, helping people discover what’s happening around the world on 24 April. You’ll also receive information from us to help you market your participation, as well as the official World Sauna Day logo to use in your own communication.
And yes – we’ll be shouting about World Sauna Day too.
As a non-profit organisation, we don’t have enormous advertising budgets. What we do have is a growing international sauna community. We’ll use our social media channels to highlight participating saunas, share great ideas and success stories, and help you get more from your own marketing.
So register early. Then start dreaming.
6 months to go: What could your World Sauna Day look like?
Now comes the fun part.
Ask yourself one simple question:
What would make someone want to experience my sauna on World Sauna Day?
You could simply offer special World Sauna Day sauna sessions. Or you could build something around them.
Think about:
- sunrise or sunset sauna sessions
- sauna + breakfast or brunch
- sauna and cold plunge experiences
- guided sauna rituals
- live music or a DJ
- sauna + local food
- sauna talks or workshops
- family sauna sessions
- beginner-friendly sessions for people who have never experienced sauna before
- sauna wellness or skincare experiences
- local sauna traditions
- a sauna marathon or several different sauna experiences
- special women-only or other themed sessions
- a mobile sauna pop-up
- collaborations with another local business
Your event doesn’t need ten different activities. One good idea is enough.
The goal isn’t to make World Sauna Day complicated. It’s to give people a reason to discover you – and perhaps discover sauna culture for the very first time.

4 months to go: Turn the idea into an event
Once you’ve found your concept, start working out the practical details.
When will you open? How many people can participate? Will your event be free or ticketed? Will people need to book in advance? How long will each sauna session be? Do you need additional staff? Will you offer food or drinks? What should guests bring with them?
This is also the time to think about the customer journey.
Someone attending your event may be a lifelong sauna enthusiast – or they may be stepping into a sauna for the first time.
Make it easy for both.
Clear information about what to expect, what to bring, sauna etiquette and how the experience works can make your event much more welcoming to newcomers.
And remember why we’re doing this. World Sauna Day isn’t only about filling saunas for one day. It’s about sharing sauna culture with the world.
Your event can also be an opportunity to talk about sauna traditions, wellbeing and the researched health benefits associated with regular sauna bathing.
3 months to go: Start talking about it
Don’t wait until April to tell people you’re participating.
Once your event is ready, start introducing it to your audience.
Tell people what you’re doing, when it’s happening, why you’re taking part and – most importantly – why they should come.
Use the World Sauna Day logo in your communication and start using the official hashtags:
#worldsaunaday #saunadaycom #visitsauna #livelovelöyly
But don’t make every post a sales post.
Take people behind the scenes. Introduce your sauna. Tell its story. Show preparations. Introduce the people involved. Explain a sauna tradition. Share what makes your löyly special. Tell people why you believe sauna matters.
By the time April arrives, people should already know something is coming.
2 months to go: Don’t do everything alone
One of the easiest ways to make your event bigger without making your own workload bigger is collaboration.
Think about the businesses and people around you.
Could a local café create a World Sauna Day breakfast? Could a wellness professional offer a treatment? Could a local food producer bring something to your event? Could a musician perform? Could a skincare brand create a post-sauna experience? Could a hotel recommend your event to its guests?
A good collaboration benefits everyone involved – and every partner brings another audience that can discover your event.
We’ve already seen how well this can work.
At Villa Furuvik in Helsinki, World Sauna Day grew into an experience featuring several saunas and different collaborators. One participating skincare company used the event to meet customers and introduce post-sauna skincare rituals, while the hosts created an experience centred around the people, atmosphere and good löyly.
The result wasn’t only a great event. The collaborators shared their experiences afterwards too – creating additional social media content, recommendations and visibility for the event.
That’s the power of collaboration.
Your partners don’t just add something to your event. They can help tell its story.

1 month to go: Turn up the volume
Now people need to start seeing your event regularly.
Share your booking link. Introduce your collaborators. Show what’s included. Answer common questions. Share photos and videos of your sauna. Create countdowns. Ask your partners to share the event with their audiences.
And make it extremely easy to book.
If you’re selling tickets, you can manage ticket sales through your own system. If you need help, get in touch with us. Our World Sauna Day sponsor Saunat.fi can also help participating saunas with ticket sales.
This is also a good moment to look at your event through the eyes of someone discovering it for the first time.
Can they immediately understand what it is?
Can they find the date, time, location and price?
Do they know what to bring?
And can they book without having to search for the link?
If not, simplify it.
1 week to go: Make sure nobody misses it
This is your final marketing push.
People make plans at different times. Someone who ignored your post three months ago may be looking for something to do right now.
Show the preparations.
Remind people about availability.
Introduce the people they’ll meet.
Repost your collaborators.
Share practical information.
And don’t be afraid to repeat yourself. You have seen every post you’ve published about your event. Your audience probably hasn’t.
24 April 2027: Make the day count
The sauna is hot. Your guests are arriving. World Sauna Day is here.
Now enjoy what you’ve created.
But remember to document it.
Take photos. Capture short videos. Share moments during the day. Ask your collaborators to tag you. Encourage your visitors to share their experiences and use #worldsaunaday.
Some of the most powerful marketing won’t come from what you say about your event.
It will come from what your guests say about it.
World Sauna Day is ultimately about connection: people meeting, slowing down, sharing löyly and experiencing sauna culture together.
That’s what we want the world to see.
And after World Sauna Day? Keep going.
Don’t let everything disappear on 25 April.
Thank your visitors and collaborators. Share your favourite moments. Repost your guests’ content. Collect feedback. Save your best photos and videos.
Ask yourself what worked – and what you’d do differently next time.
A successful World Sauna Day can introduce new people to your sauna, create new partnerships, give you months of great content and, most importantly, turn first-time visitors into future sauna lovers.
That’s why we’re starting now.
Not because organising a World Sauna Day event needs eight months.
But because eight months gives you the opportunity to make something great.
Whether you run a small backyard sauna, a mobile sauna, a hotel, a spa, a public sauna, a lakeside retreat or something completely different, there’s room for you.
World Sauna Day is for everyone.
24 April 2027.
Start planning your event today – and let’s make the day count.
