World Sauna Day – Join us and make a lasting impact!

World Sauna Day was born from a desire to spread the joy of sauna across the globe. As passionate advocates for sauna culture and the rejuvenating heat it offers, World Sauna Day is on a mission to bring warmth to everyone, everywhere. From the beginning, it was clear that we not only wanted to create lasting memories but also to make a meaningful difference.

For us Finns, the sauna is not just a place to relax – it’s a place you leave feeling better than when you arrived. Going to a sauna is also a social event. Be it relaxing with your close friends and family or attending a social sauna session and meeting new people, sauna brings us together. That is also what World Sauna Day is all about – bringing people together. Additionally, saunas are a place where we meet everyone as they are. As the old Finnish saying goes ‘Everyone is created equal, but nowhere more than in a sauna’.

In our first year we decided to celebrate the social power of saunas by donating one euro for every sauna that joined our event to the World Federation for Mental Health. This year, we’re going even further in spreading the healing powers of sauna by teaming up with Sauna Aid. For every sauna participating in our event, we will donate one euro to Sauna Aid – and we encourage sauna lovers around the world to join us in making a difference.

Sharing the warmth to those in need

Sauna Aid is a multi-country initiative that brings the warmth and care of sauna to people affected by natural disasters and conflicts. During the wildfires in California, Sauna Aid delivered mobile saunas to those who had lost their homes. To expand its fundraising efforts, Sauna Aid is now incorporated in the United States as the International Sauna Aid Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisation.

During the war in Ukraine, Sauna Aid has offered support in multiple ways. In collaboration with partners, Sauna Aid has delivered mobile saunas throughout the country. Additionally, Sauna Aid has partnered with the Ukrainian charity Repower to create psychological recovery programs for frontline medics. With the help of partners Sauna Aid has brought these mobile sauna services to retreats in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway – each time supporting over 100 Ukrainian medical personnel.

Sauna Aid’s mission is to provide sauna facilities and therapy to displaced people all around the world – and we are extremely proud to announce our collaboration with this inspiring initiative.

Join us on the next World Sauna Day on the 26th of April 2025 – celebrate the power of sauna, and help make an impact that truly lasts!
